The working principle of a household water filter is to remove impurities, pollutants and harmful substances in the water through a series of advanced filtering technologies to ensure that the water quality is purer and safer. With the improvement of people's requirements for healthy drinking water, household water filters have gradually become a must-have equipment for many families. Its working principle mainly includes physical filtration, chemical adsorption, reverse osmosis technology, ultraviolet sterilization and mineralization.

Household water filters often use physical filtration technology to remove large particles of impurities in the water. Physical filtration is usually achieved through filter elements, the most common of which are activated carbon filter elements and ceramic filter elements. When water flows through these filter elements, the pores on the surface of the filter element will intercept the mud, rust and other larger particles of impurities in the water, thereby cleaning the water source. The pore structure of the activated carbon filter element is particularly fine, which can effectively remove organic matter, odor and some chemicals in the water, and improve the taste and smell of the water.

Chemical adsorption is also a common principle in household water filters. The activated carbon filter element not only relies on physical filtration, but also absorbs harmful substances in the water through the adsorption of its surface micropores. In particular, chemicals such as chlorine and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in water are often removed through the chemical adsorption of activated carbon. This process can significantly reduce chemical pollutants in water while improving water quality, ensuring the health and safety of the water source.

Reverse osmosis technology (RO technology) is one of the most efficient water purification methods in current household water filters. Reverse osmosis technology relies on the action of a semipermeable membrane, which has an extremely small pore size and only allows water molecules to pass through. Water is forced to pass through this semipermeable membrane under high pressure, and dissolved salts, heavy metals (such as lead, mercury, etc.), bacteria, viruses and other tiny pollutants in the water are effectively filtered out. Reverse osmosis membranes can remove most of the dissolved substances in water and provide nearly pure water quality. Therefore, this technology is particularly important for families with special water quality requirements, and can effectively eliminate harmful substances in water and provide healthier drinking water.

Ultraviolet sterilization is also a common technology in some high-end water filters. Ultraviolet lamps kill bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in water by emitting ultraviolet rays of a certain wavelength. The advantage of this technology is that it does not change the chemical composition of water, so it will not cause secondary pollution to the water, and it is very environmentally friendly. Ultraviolet sterilization can effectively ensure the microbial safety of water sources, especially in some areas with poor water quality or prone to pollution, where ultraviolet sterilization technology plays a vital role.

Many household water filters are also equipped with mineralization functions. Since reverse osmosis technology removes minerals from water, many high-end water filters are designed with mineralization functions, and some minerals that are beneficial to the human body (such as calcium, magnesium, etc.) are added to the water through special mineralization filters. Mineralized water not only improves the taste, but also has certain benefits for human health and helps replenish the minerals needed by the body. Mineralized water has a softer taste and is more suitable for long-term drinking.
